Domestic Abuse Champions
MK Act provides the recruitment and training for a vital, city-wide network of Domestic Abuse Champions, funded and supported by Milton Keynes City Council. I was commissioned to create a dedicated identity for this network - one that would empower the volunteers who take on this responsibility and give them a professional way to demonstrate their commitment to the city.
The Challenge
The challenge lay in bringing together two distinct organisations - MK Act and the City Council - under one unified initiative. I needed to create an easily recognisable logo and visual identity that could sit comfortably alongside both existing brands without being overshadowed by them. Most importantly, the branding needed to belong to the champions themselves, giving the network a sense of ownership and making it feel like a permanent part of the Milton Keynes community.
The Solution
I developed a bridge identity; a visual system designed to work in harmony with various corporate partners while maintaining its own unique voice. The logo I created acts as a badge of responsibility, symbolising the protection and support the Champions provide.
I focused on creating an identity that feels both official and accessible. By using a clean, authoritative design, I ensured the branding would be taken seriously in professional settings, while the warm colour palette keeps it approachable for those
The Impact
The new identity has given the Domestic Abuse Champions a visible and unified presence across Milton Keynes. By creating a standalone brand, I helped the network move away from looking like a sub-project of a single organisation and transformed it into a city-wide movement. The champions now have a professional identity they can wear and share with pride, which has strengthened recruitment and ensured that the network’s commitment to safety is instantly recognisable in every workplace and community space they touch.
